The new approach of the 90s is continued. The completely formal freedom is a principle that does not exhaust easily. Liberation of form does not, however, mean that forms organize the picture surface. The picture is more shaped from colour. The first steps in the picture’s creation are executed as always. There is no change: colours that form an independent relationship are first searched for and selected. In this respect there is no search for color, but from the outset, more a search for relationships. The colors are simply the raw materials of a sought-after relationship. These relationships are lengthily and repeatedly tested before being approved. Only then can the color level be dismissed and the organization of color on the surface be considered. Only then is it about form. As long as forms are perceived in the picture then they are created indirectly from the arrangement of color. Thus the picture is shaped from color. The color is placed there where it appears to be necessary according to the picture’s aim. It acquires its dimensions, and consequently its boundaries, through the dimensions of the remaining color. From the color arrangement, boundaries are created, from the boundaries forms. Thus, the forms have a secondary function. The rhythm of the picture is a rhythm of color, less of form. Similarly, the topography of the picture is determined by color and not by form. It is not about colored forms but rather formed color. Hence the color-form becomes a further parameter of the colour.
