The new use of color stripes, an approach from the second half of 2007, is continued. Furthermore, color pairs or color combinations are alternated in a single striped structure. And furthermore, such a system of alternating color stripes is placed against another color pair within the same picture, preparing a contrasting color tone within a similar structure. Thus there are still fractures in the painting, in some cases connections and superimpositions. It is characteristic however, that opposing stripe directions in the picture solutions of 2008 are avoided. The fracture, or better still, the antithesis is created mostly through a slight divergence in direction. This principle was already in use in 2007 and is now used exclusively in forming fractures.
Parallel to the easel paintings, the development of an architecturally defined painting style appears in 2008. Art concepts for existing buildings in Boston and Cologne are initial projects. These are not picture installations that place works of art in a room, but rather concepts that respond to architectural concepts. The integration of paintings within architecture already occurs on a conceptual level, creating a visual entity which accentuates the identity of a location as well as strengthening the identification to that location.
