After a 10-year calm in the 90s which featured a cautious but evolutionary development aimed at consolidation, a counter-movement is due. Perceived from a distance, the years 2001 and 2002 seem to be a continuation of the 90s, only under a different sign. In 2003 an experimental phase breaks out again, unfolding in dynamic steps, as though a creative impulse had been bottled up over the last years. The common element is the form white. In the years 2001 and 2003 the results are the uniform white stripes. Now varying forms of white are tested and individually executed in a clear series of pictures. The approach changes almost monthly. Such experimental candor occurred only once before in the last 30 years which was in 1981. The common feature of all approaches is the active role which the white plays. The background character of the white diminishes, strengthening its character as a form. As such the white becomes a frame, an incisive inner form, a formal sequence or a corresponding form to the color areas. In the formulation of the composition there are many reiterations of the right angle, the precise vertical and the precise horizontal. Just as the white form wins on activity, so does the color form. There are also formal sequences and corresponding forms. The results of 2003 are as such quite diverse.
